ENCOURAGING WORDS…

Have you ever had a bad day? When it seemed as if the whole world was against you and it would have been better for you if you would have just stayed in bed? Then your day turns around all because someone brings you some encouraging words. As the Bible says, “A word spoken in due season, how good it is!”

If you are reading this and you are having one of those days, I pray that this little poem will be an encouragement to you. I came across this poem while studying for a message a few days ago. Remember this, God is still on the throne!

Oh, my soul, be not weary and troubled
For God is still on the throne.
Though the storms of adversity gather,
Remember, He strengthens His own.
Though the lightning around you be flashing
And the billowing waves o’er you roll,
There is peace in the midst of the tempest;
There is peace, so be still, oh, my soul!

Oh, my soul, be not sad or discouraged
For God is still on the throne.
Though the pathway of life may be rugged,
Remember, you walk not alone.
The Saviour is with you each moment,
To lead you on mountain on knoll.
There is peace in the valley or summit;
There is peace, so be still, oh, my soul.

Oh, my soul, do not shrink from affliction,
For God is still on the throne;
Remember the suffering on Calvary
And the agony borne all alone.
Though the lengthening shadows of weakness
Steep the body in pain’s dread control,
There is peace in the midnight of suffering;
There is peace, so be still, oh, my soul.

Oh, my soul, do not be weary of waiting
For God is still on the throne;
Remember, His promised appearing
Will gladden the hearts of His own.
Tho’ He linger a little while longer,
His praises for man to extol,
There is peace, for His coming is nearer,
There is peace, so be sill, oh, my soul.
